The Irish SouthWest Itinerary

8 Days / 6 Championship Rounds

The Irish South West is Ireland's heartland of links golf. Six championship rounds along the Atlantic-facing dunes of Kerry and Clare, anchored at three bases on a single coastal thread. From Killarney you play Dooks, Tralee on Banna Strand (Arnold Palmer's first European design), Waterville on the Iveragh Peninsula and the cliff-top Ballybunion Old. The week then crosses the Shannon by car ferry to Doonbeg Lodge for the Greg Norman links and the Lahinch Old finale: designed by Old Tom Morris and Alister MacKenzie, host of the 2019 Irish Open. Between the rounds, the Ring of Kerry, the Skellig Coast, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and the trad-music pubs of Doolin.

Day 1

  • Arrive Shannon Airport.

  • Greeted on arrival by Argyle Links.

  • Overnight: 5★ hotel in Killarney.

Day 2

  • Play Dooks Golf Club — classic Irish links designed in 1889.

  • Overnight: 5★ hotel in Killarney.

Day 3

  • Play Tralee — Arnold Palmer-designed links beside Banna Strand of Ryan’s Daughter fame.

  • Overnight: 5★ hotel in Killarney.

Day 4

  • Play Waterville — one of Ireland’s finest links with dunes near the shoreline.

  • Overnight: 5★ hotel in Killarney.

Day 5

  • Play Ballybunion Old — legendary links described by Tom Watson as “one of the best tests of links golf in the world.”

  • Overnight: 4★ boutique hotel, minutes from the Clubhouse.

Day 6

  • Play Doonbeg Golf Links — a Greg Norman links design (2002) on a stretch of Atlantic dunes north of Doonbeg village along Doughmore Bay.

  • Overnight: 5★ Atlantic-facing resort built around a 19th-century lodge in Doonbeg.

Day 7

  • Play Lahinch Old — classic links with famous holes like the Dell and Klondyke.

  • Overnight: 5★ Atlantic-facing resort built around a 19th-century lodge in Doonbeg.

Day 8

  • Depart Shannon Airport.
